²⁰ However, Amaziah refused to listen, for God had resolved to hand them over because they had consulted the gods of Edom. ²¹ Therefore, King Joash of Israel marched forth, and he and King Amaziah of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-shemesh which belongs to Judah. ²² There Judah was defeated by Israel, and everyone fled to his tent.
